Post a question in the comments section of 3 of your classmates posts and on your teacher's post. Remember to go back to your blog and reply to the questions.

Below is my example.

The summer between my third and fourth year at university I decided to apply for a job in a hotel in Maine. I didn't get the job and dreaded the idea of working my regular summer jobs and living with my parents. But what happened in the end changed my life forever. In fact, I don't think I would be here right now if I had not traveled to Europe that summer. The only way it was possible was because my brother had a job as a flight attendant. Before that I had never really considered the idea of travelling because it was way too expensive.

I flew with my parents to Spain and spent 2 weeks with them near Malaga. My parents went back to the USA and I spent another 6 weeks travelling through Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, and the Netherlands. Before the trip I had done some research about travelling in Europe on a budget. I stayed in cheap youth hostels and traveled by train mostly. I was travelling alone, but was never lonely because I met so many people and had so much fun. I even ran into a friend of mine from my university. That trip changed my life completely because I learned how to travel, be spontaneous, and be open to meeting people.

  1. Hi Ronda! I'm so glad you could do it all by yourself. I would like to know if you ever felt lonely and afraid on the trip, and what place you recommend the most to visit from all the countries you mentionated.

    1. I only felt lonely on the first day. The great thing about youth hostels is that you often have to share a room and other common spaces with other travelers. These are great opportunities to meet other people.
I would like to go back to Portugal and see how it's changed. But actually I would love to return to all of the places.

  2. Hi Ronda! I would like to visit Europe, above all Spain, but I would be afraid to travel alone. I prefer travel with friends or my family. What place do you like more? And did you have an unpleasant experience while traveling?

    1. In Spain, I really liked Barcelona.
I had a few unpleasant experiences, nothing serious. I learned from that trip to be open-minded, expect the unexpected, and not to get stressed out when something didn't go as planned.

    1. I think my other advice is to not plan everything and leave room to be spontaneous. I also think being open to meet people is really important.

  4. Hello Ronda! Thanks for sharing your experience, it sounds wonderful. I imagine it was not only a physical journey, but also a very spiritual one because you got to know new parts of yourself. I have always wanted to travel alone, any advice to lose the fear?

    1. I've already mentioned some advice in my responses above. I would add that in order to lose your fear, is to trust yourself. It might also be a good idea to go on a short trip, even a weekend, by yourself. Just to see what it is like.

  5. One of my dreams is to travel that way, I think it's more fun, especially if you are young, you can be more adventurous. I'm glad you have that experience in your life, I hope to have it too.

  7. It sounds like fun to travel Europe by train. I'd like to travel alone too, but I wouldn't want to feel lonely in that situation. Of all the places you visited that time, which one did you like the most?

  9. Hi Ronda, how exciting your story. I would love to travel to all those places, I imagine it's an unforgettable experience to travel alone. Was it difficult for you to manage with the different languages to meet people from those countries?

  10. I realized on that trip how English is such a global language. Nevertheless, I also learned that it is important to learn some basic words in the language before you arrive, so that you try to make an effort and show respect.

  11. Wow, I would love to live an experience like yours. Maybe someday!
